Universal Epic Universe: A World of Adventure Awaits
Universal Epic Universe is poised to be a game-changer in the theme park industry, featuring four elaborately themed lands, a vast central hub, and three hotels.
Slated to open in 2025, the park is currently a beehive of activity, with Universal Orlando teasing fans while simultaneously focusing on their 2024 projects.
Super Nintendo World Immersive Theming and Construction
The essence of Super Nintendo World lies in its immersive theming, capturing the iconic designs, music, and characters from the Super Mario Bros. games.
Some of the key themed elements being constructed include:
Red - Mount Beanpole: The tallest point in Super Nintendo World.
Green - Peach’s Castle Base: The main entrance to the land.
Blue - Bowser’s Castle Theming: Connected to a massive white-roofed show building.
In addition, desert pyramids (not pictured) will adorn the rooftops of several buildings in between Mount Beanpole and the section dedicated to the Donkey Kong area. The pyramids draw their inspiration from 2013's Super Mario 3D World.
Yoshi’s Adventure Takes Center Stage
A key attraction in Super Nintendo World will be Yoshi’s Adventure, joining the ranks of the Mario Kart and Donkey Kong rides, not to mention the anticipated Bowser Jr. interactive experience. Yoshi’s Adventure promises a family-friendly journey with continuously moving ride vehicles, offering stunning views of the vibrantly themed Super Nintendo World, replete with various levels and animatronics.
Even though the park's opening is over a year away, Universal isn't slowing down on the construction and installation of these rides, with testing already underway in other park areas.
Donkey Kong Country's Thrill Rides
One of the most thrilling upcoming attractions is the Donkey Kong roller coaster. This unique coaster, already making waves in Japan, will feature a "jump off the track" experience. Universal Creative has merged theming and engineering to create an exhilarating ride where passengers in a runaway mine cart will seemingly leap from one track section to another. This illusion is achieved through a support system that maintains safety while delivering an adrenaline-pumping storyline.
Key elements of the Donkey Kong Mine Cart Madness track include various support tracks and thematic elements designed to enhance the illusion of jumping tracks, including a possible water element and themed broken track pieces. This family-friendly coaster balances thrills with accessibility.
Bowser’s Castle and the Mario Kart Experience
Bowser’s Castle, another major feature of Universal Epic Universe, is progressing towards becoming an iconic landmark. It will serve as the entrance to the Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge ride. This attraction, focusing on augmented reality and intricate 3D sets, immerses riders in the world of Mario Kart.
Unlike high-speed attractions, this ride emphasizes the gamification process, a core aspect of the Nintendo brand, and is accessible to younger guests.
Slated to Open in 2025
As the summer of 2025 approaches, we can expect more exciting developments from Universal Epic Universe. The blend of nostalgia and innovation in bringing these beloved Nintendo properties to life is truly remarkable.
