1. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Release Date: 2024
Ok, this one shouldn't be much of a surprise at the top of our list for 2024.
The Thousand-Year Door is often regarded as one of - if not the - best versions of Paper Mario ever produced; so naturally, we're very excited to get our hands on this game again. It has everything: quirky humor, replay-ability through challenges like The Pit of 100 Trials, and a captivating storyline. The updated graphics are a welcome bonus to modernize this game for the Switch's visual tech.
While there isn't a confirmed release date at this time, we're eagerly awaiting more information from this HD remake of the Paper Mario cult classic.
Bonus Pick: Metroid Prime 4
Beyond our top 5, there are other titles like the Metroid franchise's Metroid Prime 4 that continue to generate significant excitement. First announced at E3 2017, its development has been shrouded in mystery, leaving fans eagerly anticipating its eventual release.
More recently, rumors have surfaced, pointing at an expansive gameplay experience akin to the Xbox's Halo series. We also have more rumors pointing towards quality assurance being performed on the in-development title. For now, we'll have to wait and see....maybe Prime 4 will make it to a 2025 list!
