Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Among Top Contenders for 2024 New York 'Game of the Year Award'
After losing "Game of the Year" to Baldur's Gate 3 during The Game Awards 2023 ceremony, Tears of the Kingdom is nominated for another chance at the top-rated title.
The latest entry to the Zelda franchise will face-off against a strong roster of blockbuster titles such as Starfield, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and, of course, Baldur's Gate 3, among others.
A Diverse Range of Categories and Nominees
The awards aren't just about the big names. There's a notable presence of indie gems competing for the Best Indie Game prize, including titles like A Space for the Unbound and Pizza Tower.
This diversity showcases the rich tapestry of the gaming world, where both AAA and indie developers are recognized for their creativity and innovation.
Recognition Across the Board
In addition to Game of the Year, titles like Alan Wake II and Baldur’s Gate 3 have secured multiple nominations across various categories, including Best Writing and Best World, highlighting their comprehensive excellence.
Tears of the Kingdom is also nominated for both the Best Music in a Game as well as Best Kids Game awards.
Notable Nintendo Nominees
While Tears of the Kingdom certainly deserves its place in the spotlight, we can't forget about other notable Nintendo Switch titles that have had strong performance throughout 2023.
In the Best Kids Game category, we have both Pikmin 4 as well as the more-recent Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Finally, in the Best Remake category, we have showings from both Metroid Prime Remastered and Super Mario RPG.
