Analyst Weighs-in on Potential Switch 2 Production Data
Recently, Mochizuki's findings pointed to an 8-inch LCD screen for the Switch 2; however, new data has surfaced surrounding production data. Here's what he has to say:
Nintendo Looks to Mitigate Supply Chain Issues
This production capacity is particularly noteworthy when contrasted with the launch periods of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Both Sony and Microsoft faced significant supply chain challenges in meeting consumer demand, resulting in shortages and difficulties in obtaining these consoles without pre-orders. The demand often exceeded the supply, making it a challenge for many fans to get their hands on these consoles during their initial launch phase.
Lack of OLED Screen
An even more notable finding from Mochizuki's X post is his source noting the following:
And about OLED version, Omdia says not "for this year". - Takashi Mochizuki, X
We've continued to see this mentioned across several sources, pointing to less of a likelihood for the Switch 2 to have an OLED screen on launch. While disappointing, the increased, 8-inch screen size may be a potential offset.
Awaiting Confirmation: Nintendo's Next-Gen Console Plans
As of now, Nintendo has not officially announced a successor to the highly successful Nintendo Switch console. However, the prospect of such a high production volume for the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 is an intriguing development, indicating that Nintendo might be aiming to avoid the supply issues that plagued its competitors' launches.
This strategy could position the Nintendo Switch 2 favorably in the market, ensuring better availability for consumers eager to experience Nintendo's next-gen console.
