Kevin Afghani To Voice Mario
In a recent development, the iconic voice of Mario in the Super Mario Bros. franchise has undergone a significant transition. The baton has been passed to Kevin Afghani, a voice actor based in Los Angeles, as officially confirmed by the artist himself on his Twitter account last Friday.
Afghani expressed his pride and gratitude for voicing both Mario and Luigi in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder. He acknowledged Nintendo for providing this opportunity to become an integral part of the beloved Flower Kingdom, revealing a deep sense of honor in undertaking this iconic role.
This revelation follows Afghani's prior engagement as the voice behind the character Arnold in Genshin Impact, showcasing his versatility and expertise in the realm of voice acting.
Mario Voice Speculation for Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Interestingly, speculation had arisen among fans regarding another actor, Mick Wingert, potentially assuming the role of Mario in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder game. However, this speculation was dispelled when Wingert's agent refuted the claims, affirming Kevin Afghani as the rightful successor.
Martinet's Mario Ambassador Role
Nintendo had announced earlier this summer that Charles Martinet, the longstanding voice actor of Mario for over 25 years, would be relinquishing his role. Nonetheless, the successor remained undisclosed until Afghani's voice actor announcement.
In a recent video shared by Nintendo, Charles Martinet, accompanied by Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, shed light on Martinet's new role as the 'Mario Ambassador.' This new responsibility entails traveling globally, sharing the delight of the Mario family, and engaging with the devoted fanbase.
Leaked Mario Wonder Credits
Moreover, leaked credits from the upcoming Mario Wonder reveal that Deanna Mustard, a veteran Mario voice actor, has been recast as Daisy, marking a significant transition for her as well.
Meanwhile, the credits also hint at the return of Samantha Kelly, known for voicing Peach, Toad, and Toadette in previous Mario games, as well as Kenny James as the voice of Bowser and Caety Sagoian as Bowser Jr., further hinting at a blend of familiar and fresh voices in the Mario universe.
