Jack Black Responds to Super Mario Bros. Movie Critics

During a candid discussion with Total Film, Black expressed his alignment with audience sentiments, puzzled by the disconnect between the critics' opinions and the general public's adoration for the movie.

"They screened it for me a month before it hit theaters. I was like, 'We’ve got a hit on our hands.' I’m laughing and smiling the whole way through this movie," Black recalls. 

"And then it came out and it got horrible reviews. I was like, 'What movie did they see?' Luckily, the world didn’t listen to Rotten Tomatoes, and it was one of the biggest hits of all time." - Jack Black, Total Film

His dedication to the role and the project is clear, as he eagerly anticipates the possibility of reprising his role in a potential sequel, pending collaboration between Nintendo and Universal. While a sequel is likely - given the box office success of the Super Mario Bros. Movie thus far - Black has not yet received a green light for production to begin.
