Good news for the Pikmin fans in the house: Nintendo has just graced the Switch eShop with remastered versions of Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2. This surprise drop, announced during today's Nintendo Direct, marks the completion of the original trilogy on the Switch platform, ahead of the highly anticipated release of Pikmin 4 on July 21st!
Originally released via the GameCube, and later seen on the Wii and Wii U, these two gems can be snagged separately or together.
Now, it's important to manage expectations here. Unlike the comprehensive remastering we saw with Pikmin 3 Deluxe, these are more subtle upgrades. They've been brushed up to run at 1080p, equipped with Switch-friendly controls, but visually, they retain a certain vintage charm. But hey, who doesn’t love a little nostalgia, right? Plus, you still get to enjoy the multiplayer mode in Pikmin 2.
For the collectors among us, who love the feel of a physical cartridge in hand, there's something for you too. You'll have to hold on until September 22, but then you can have both games on a single cartridge. So, whether you're a long-standing Pikmin enthusiast or a newcomer looking to dive in, there's never been a better time to explore this wonderfully quirky universe.
