PokéPark Kanto: Blending Reality with the Pokémon Universe
Strategically situated in the Tama Hills of the Kanto region, the site mirrors the original setting of the first-generation Pokémon games. This geographical synergy adds an element of authenticity, immersing visitors in the Pokémon universe.
Previous Collaborations and Pokémon’s Presence at Universal Studios
This project marks the second collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Yomiuriland. Their first joint effort in 2019 resulted in a nature attraction, inviting Pokémon fans to explore and engage with the world of Pokémon within the park’s natural surroundings.
Additionally, Pokémon characters are a regular feature in parades at Universal Studios, although a comprehensive Pokémon-themed attraction is yet to be fully realized within Nintendo's partnership with Universal. The addition of a new, in-person Pokémon experience is a strong complement as Universal and Nintendo continue to expand upon their existing partnership, such as the recent unveiling of Donkey Kong Country.
No official date has been set for the theme park launch at this time. We will continue to monitor the news as it is released.
Historical Context and Upcoming Pokémon Gaming Content
Previously, a Pokémon theme park named PokéPark operated briefly in Japan and Taiwan during 2005-2006. Designed as a mobile theme park, it unfortunately closed due to declining popularity, reflecting a period of waning interest in the Pokémon franchise post-Pokémania.
The Indigo Disk DLC
In related news, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are set to release their final piece of DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk, on December 14, continuing the evolution of the Pokémon gaming experience.
