Fortnite is back in the newsfeed, following the recent announcement of Disney's $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games. This time, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) have joined the ranks of Fortnite Battle Royale and are sure to set pulses racing in a series of thrilling happenings that are bound to super-energize gamers and comic book fans alike in one electrifying update. Back in December, an initial visit into the world of Fortnite brought these beloved characters, and now that the collaboration has returned, a stunning cinematic trailer accompanies the comeback.
Starting today, February 9, 2024, players can once again join forces with Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael as they bring in their signature weapons and outdo even the fastest ninja in the Fortnite universe.

Fortnite Cowabunga Event
The Cowabunga event has been aptly named to capture the spirit and verve of the TMNT franchise and starts today and runs through February 27, 2024, at 9 AM ET. Cowabunga invites players to immerse themselves in the rich TMNT universe in an interactive and immersive manner. Teams playing the game can wield iconic weapons like Leonardo's Katanas, Michelangelo's Nunchaku, Donatello's Staff, and Raphael's Sai to navigate through the game's sewer pipes and Cowabunga Quests to unlock themed rewards.
The Cowabunga Quests include several phases on the six goals of the TMNT, and by finishing these quests, players will be eligible to earn Ooze and obtain rewards through both the free and premium Cowabunga Pass. This quest variety is what makes the Cowabunga Quests so exciting, including the Krang Blueprints. Collecting all six unlocks the coveted Krang Back Bling. The Cowabunga Pass itself is the trove of rewards, providing players with the TMNT Pizza Back Bling, The Kuro Kabuto Bass, and the Turtle Blimp Glider, among others. A distinct advantage of the quests is the presence of Krang Blueprints; a set of completing all six unlocks the Krang Back Bling.
TMNT Fortnite Item Shop
For those choosing the premium reward track, unique items such as the Shredder Outfit and Super Shredder’s Cape Back Bling become instantly available, each one with both a Fortnite and LEGO style. Each Turtle has an individualized weapon with their abilities – Attack, Air Attack, Dash Attack, and Double Jump. The addition of TMNT-ized Driftboards only helps add a fun edge, enabling the players to do tricks across the island. And what would a good TMNT event be without the ability to enjoy a Pizza Party box, thereby restoring Health and Shield?
Players will find in the item store – aside from the Ninjutsu master Splinter, as well as the return of the Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo, and April O’Neill Outfits in Fortnite and LEGO styles – what makes this Fortnite x TMNT event so special. But the fact that the collaboration is in its initial phases means only one thing: it has the potential to not just be a trip down memory lane for long-term fans of the TMNT series but also a fresh and exciting experience for Fortnite players.
