Newest Nintendo Console News & Potential Timing
According to VGC's sources, key partners in Nintendo's ecosystem have begun to receive development kits for the new console. In English, this means that major studios that release some of Nintendo's best-selling, flagship games are now able to play around with the latest technology that will be in the upcoming platform. If the leaks are true, this is big.
According to others with knowledge of Nintendo's plans, the company is also likely to release new hardware during the latter half of 2024 to avoid potential supply shortages and minimize Nintendo's supply chain impacts. This was an issue with recent releases such as the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Next Nintendo Console Rumored Features
At this time, details are being held very close to the chest, but the VGC article was able to tell us a bit more.
Portable Mode would be standard, similar to the Nintendo Switch.
The console may launch with an LCD screen rather than OLED screen in order to keep costs down.
The new Nintendo console will accept physical games in the cartridge slot, just like the Nintendo Switch does today.
Backwards compatibility (physical and digital) is not confirmed and still remains unclear. Nintendo has expressed intentions to convert as many Switch users to this next-gen console, and this is likely to aid in those efforts. We'll be watching this one closely.
