Latest UK Gaming Rankings Include EA Sports FC 24's Entry and Zelda's Resilience

EA Sports has dropped a stunner with FC 24, shooting to No.1 in the UK’s retail charts and becoming the second largest retail launch this year! However, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing.

GfK data shared by Gamesindustry.biz reveals the sales are actually 30% lower compared to FIFA 23’s launch. A tad surprising, but it seems the rebrand had a bit of an impact, though there’s chatter about a possible surge in digital sales that may bridge this gap.

Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda Maintains the Overall Sales Lead

In a sea of new releases, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom holds its ground as the unrivalled champion, overshadowing EA Sports FC 24, making it a bright spot for Nintendo fans. We’ve witnessed some dips across formats in comparison to FIFA 23’s debut, but the Nintendo Switch version has edged slightly higher.

Despite the slowdown in sales compared to last year's title, EA Sports FC 24 is still ranked as the second biggest retail launch of the year, second only to Tears of the Kingdom.

A quick look at the charts shows Mortal Kombat slipping to No.2, experiencing an 83% week-on-week sales plummet. With Hogwarts Legacy, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Grand Theft Auto 5 maintaining their strongholds, it’s a diverse mix in the Top Five.

And, would you look at that, retailer pushes have brought The Witcher 3: Complete Edition and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor back into the spotlight, landing at No.10 and No.8 respectively!
